  • Having trouble using your digital camera?
  • Want to take more technically accomplished, higher quality images?
  • Would you like to know which settings to use in specific situations?
  • Would you like some hands on assistance with your camera, and learn to use the technology more effectively?

Centre for Contemporary Photography presents four, two hour workshops designed for those who would like to be more comfortable and effective in using their digital cameras.

Participants are invited to enrol for these sessions with professional photographers and educators, Tatjana Plitt, Bachelor of Media Arts, RMIT University and Michael Warnock, Bachelor of Media Arts, RMIT University.

Introduction to your digital camera and file management
Friday 14 November, 5–7PM

This week will begin with participants sharing their own photographs they have brought in to discuss problems or positive results they have achieved with their digital cameras. This session will cover basic camera settings, how to download, store & organise your images and create a simple workflow.

Introduction to exposure
Friday 21 November, 5–7PM
This week will cover key exposure concepts, how to overcome common exposure problems, what settings to use in specific situations and familiarity with what is pictorially possible.

Basic lighting principles will also be explored with a focus on making the most of natural light and using the in-camera fill-flash.

Introduction to Photoshop
Friday 5 December, 5–7PM
Improving and correcting images with Photoshop tools, including tonal and colour adjustments, layers, resizing and retouching for different genres of images.

Photoshop and Revision
Friday 12 December, 5–7PM
This week will be a continuation of Session 3 Photoshop and include revising all topics covered so far.

  • Participants must bring their own digital camera and complete this enrolment form at time of enrolling.
  • Places are limited to 10 participants. Bookings essential.
  • Closing date for enrolments is Tuesday 11 November.
  • Classes will take place at the Centre for Contemporary Photography.
  • Full payment is required at time of bookings.
  • Refunds can only be given for withdrawals made at least 3 working days prior to workshop commencement and a $30 administration fee will apply. For withdrawals after this date, no refunds will be issued.
  • In the event that the workshop is cancelled, a full refund will be given.
