PROJECTION WINDOW

The second collaborative work by Helen Grogan and Tanja Kimme, Projection Window continues an investigation into the conceptual and formal properties of photographic documentation. Designed specifically for the Centre for Contemporary Photography (CCP) Night Projection Window, the project takes the existing site as the subject for enquiry. Upon its physical surface and within the frame determined by technical limits, the length of CCP's facade is gradually revealed. This simple action posits the physical context of the CCP Night Projection Window as well as implicating the viewer in the act of seeing. The confines of the space are extended to incorporate both viewer and surrounding architecture, inviting questions about their potential performative roles within this public exhibition space. Grogan and Kimme's collaboration is informed by their contrasting academic and professional backgrounds in choreography/philosophy and photography.
